WOC 2012 List Of Players
|
The first WOC was held in 1977 in Tokyo, winner was Hiroshi Inoue from Japan, second place Thomas Heiberg from Norway. More pictures of this event can be found here. Check the players page on the WOF website. Every national federation has its own page with additional information on the players: qualification, major results in the last 4 years, previous World Othello Championships.
Note: Unfortunately ths feature has been cancelled by the WOF. A pitty, coz now that Othello Wiki Book Project is dead and buried, we no longer have easy access to players data. Yusuke Takanashi from Japan won the World Othello Championship in 2010 for the second time in a row. He won the final 2 - 1 against Michele Borassi, the 2008 champion. Piyanat Aunchulee from Thailand ended third that time, beating Imre Leader from Britain in the 3/4 playoff. Jiska Helmes from The Netherlands won the Womens Trophy that same year in an all-european final against Veronica Stenberg. All these 6 players will play at the 2012 edition of the WOC. Update: Yusuke won his third WOC. What a great achievement! Veronica Stemberg won the Ladies Final. The others did not make it to the (semi)finals in the 36th edition of the WOC. |
