The 22nd edition of the European Grand Prix tournament on Belgian soil will take place on Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd of August 2015. The tournament is the 6th stage of the 2015 European Grand Prix season and promises once again to be a great event.
This tournament will be counting for the Belgian Grand Prix 2015 and the Foreigners Grand Prix 2015.
All results will also be transferred for the World Othello Rating List.

The tournament will be held in cooperation with Gent Meeting Center, the event center that also assisted in the organisation of the European Grand Prix event in 2013 and the World Othello Championship 2009. The tournament promises to have a WOC level organisation once again!
The Belgian Othello Association foresees at least 150€ prize money for the winner and more than 700€ prizes spread over all categories. A welcoming bag, breakfast, lunches and drinks during the day will be included in the subscription fee. We will foresee a choice out of at least 2 evening activities on Saturday evening.

A lot of hard thinking for Takuji at his EGP. He really needed the 200 points for a win but he finished on a shared 5th place.

A great first day of tournament for Jeroen Everts, he won all 7 games. Jeroen moved from the Netherlands to Sweden a few years ago and recently started to play in tournaments in Sweden. I asked him if he planned to play at the WOC in Cambridge but he did not give me a definite answer.
Tom Schotte had 6 points, ouch, a 62 - 02 loss against Nicky van den Biggelaar. Nicky had 5 points, he lost against Arthur Juigner and Francesco Marconi. All the other 5 pointers: Imre Leader, Arthur Juigner, Oskar Eklund Francesco Marconi, Marcel Peperkamp and Takuji Kashiwabara. Perhaps nobody is interested in my own efforts, but I was very happy to have a win before lunch and then after lunch, I won 3 more. Far more than I had expected.

After his great first day, nobody was surprised that Jeroen Everts made it to the final, but he had 2 losses, against Nicky in round 10 and against Niklas Wettergren in round 11.
It was a close finish with 3 players at 9 points. Too bad for Arthur that he just missed the final. But he played a great tourney and won the the third place after a playoff against Niklas Wettergren. EGP Ghent was agreat event, thanks Tom Schotte and all the enthusiast players for a wonderful Othello weekend!
