This event offered a great opportunity to enjoy both classic and new games. Othello News spotted some familiar faces: the Juigner brothers and their mother Doris Schneider. It does not take a genius to figure out who took the picture.... Othello Star Photographer Francois Juigner |

Interview with Zen Thammatorn, team manager team ThailandWhat were the team's expectations at the start of the tournament?
I wanted Thai team to get 2nd place in team champion. What was the stress like for the team at the start of round 13? If Piyanat beat Ben Seeley, He will get in the semi-final round. Everyone in Thailand who was online in that day and Thai players in WOC , they cheer up for Piyanat to win that game. From the opening of the game, Piyanat was winning. He made a big mistake in the midgame, but Ben did not see it. Finally Piyanat won, everyone was very happy. Did you do anything special to prepare Piyanat for the semi's? Nothing special, but I heard from Woramet who shared the room with Piyanat, that Piyanat woke up very early in the morning (5 am) to prepare his opening. When did Piyanat really start to believe the WOC Trophy would be his? He said last 6 move in the last game. What happened when the team returned to Thailand with the Champion? Some Thailand Othello players came to the airport to congratulate Piyanat. A couple of news channels asked for Piyanat's phone number to do the news. The sponsor of Othello Team Thailand, Sosuco Group, was very happy with the succes. |

From the video:
Question: Yusuke Takanashi, what is your resolution for this WOC 2016? My resolution is to break the record of Mr. Tamenori who won the World Othello Championship games 7 times in total. If I win this tournament 2016, it would be 5th time. One more thing is that, I want to make people impressed and excited through my game. 10 years ago, I started playing the Othello and I watched World Othello Championship for the first time. It was 30th WOC in Mito where WOC takes place. That's why this is kind of impressive to me having the game in Mito I was very amazed when I watched 30th WOC so now is the time for me to make people excited! |
