Albert Kortendijk wins 7th Antwerpen Othello Open
Antwerp Belgium, 28 April.
Very nice tourney organised by Jan van Damme in Eekeren near Antwerp. Quite a number of Dutch players were present and Albert Kortendijk {NL} took the trophy home to the Netherlands. The tourney did not start too well for him. The first round he had a bye, not very exciting, the second round he lost his game 30 - 34 to Tom Schotte. He did not give away any points in the rest of the tourney. Tom also had 6 wins and lost 1 game to Linda Praseptyo. Linda played a very good tourney. Is she on her way to qualify for the Dutch WOC team? Final ranking of all 16 players after 7 rounds:

Stockholm KulturnattStockholm Sweden, 21 April
At the Stockholm "Night of Culture", some twenty people came to the Dragon's Lair to play Othello, It was a nice event, many laughs and lots of fun games. There were 4 players present from the Svenska Othelloförbundet, it was nice that so many people from outside the othello community took an interest in Othello and really liked the game. A small blitz tourney was won by Henry Aspenryd and Niklas Wettergren won the unofficial title of "fastest disk in town" when he flipped all 64 discs in 30 seconds. posted by Bengt Steentoft on Svenska Othelloförbundet Facebookpage |
