Visa: note by Marc Tastet on Eurothfed group: To go to Russia, you probably need a visa. To get a visa, you need a passport, of course, an invitation and a letter from your insurance company. The Russian players sent an invitation (let me know if you didn't receive it and need it) but two years ago, Francesco Marconi had difficulties in using this kind of invitation. If you book your hotel, the hotel can send you an invitation (you have to pay 10 to 15 euros for that) and this will probably work better.

The first Russian EGP, 2014 in Moscow, had 20 players. The Russian players Elena Averina and Dmitriy Atamanov played a very good tourney and were well on their way to secure a spot in the final. But all went wrong for them in round 11. The two finalists were Italian player Francesco Marconi (winner) and Marc Tastet from France. Will it be different this year, with 1 or 2 home-players in the final? удачи! good luck to them! Tom Schotte posted a short article on the BOA website and he is ready to defend his EGP top position. Good luck Tom!
The offical EGP website by the European Othello Confederation can be found here. It links to Facebook for all latest news about the tournament. The page you really need to check ofcourse is this one :) |

Tom Schotte won all 3 games in rounds 9-11, Dmitriy Atamanov won 2 games and lost 1 against Eldar Abibullaiev. The two best players of day 1 kept their top position and proceeded to the final. Dmitriy won the first game in the final. Tom was ahead in the second game but gave up his winning position in move 56. As the second game was a draw, the final victory was to be decided in the last game. Tom won the Cambridge EGP with a loss, a draw and a win in the final against Takuji Kashiwabara, but he failed to copy that score as Dmitriy Atamanov won the third game in the final. Dmitriy is the first Russian winner of an EGP tournament. Congrats Dmitriy!
