In Shanghai there was a competition for blind players in 2010.
The competition divided players into 2 groups: the totally blind and the half-blind, 64 players took part in it.

In 6th GOOC, they played against the "seeing" players, these games are without chess clocks. Total time limit for each of them and their opponents is same as games between normal players/40mins in each game. They use special boards with grids, discs are smooth on one side and rough on the other. The visually handicapped players touch the discs and feel the game. One of the special board/discs was made by hand by a mother of a blind child.
