Martin Ødegård wins Oslo Open
Oslo February 4th
Martin Ødegård was invincible, he won the Oslo Open with 7 straight wins. The tournament had 8 players and it was nice was that both Jan Kristian Haugland and Vidar Albrigtsen had found their way back to the Othello board. Ranking of the 8 players after round 7: |
Tom Schotte wins Liège Open
Liège, Belgium, February 4th
Tom won 6 games out of 7. The only game he lost was in round 4 against Jan de Graaf. Jan played black and won 38 - 26. Matthias Berg won 5 games. He lost against Tom (see below) and against the other player from Germany, Daniel Rossler.
Unfortunately de Dutch players arrived too late at the tourney and missed the first round. I am sure that had to do with the extreme cold weather and icy roads.

Ulf Bengtsson wins Dragon Lair Open
Stockholm Sweden, February 4th
The Norrköping Open tournament was moved to the Dragon Lair in Stockholm. Ulf Bengtsson, made a brilliant comeback and won the Dragon's Lair Open unbeaten! Second place, Christian, and third for Henry. Seven players showed up to the weekend's tournament, and a further two debutants were recruited. It was a relaxed but exciting tournament.
